Midway's Arcade Classics Volume 3 Readme File - November 10 1998 Version 1.0 "The *.exe file is linked to missing export MFC42.dll" (Error message) ------------------------------------------------------------ If you receive the error "A device attached to the system is not functioning" and "The *.exe file is linked to missing export MFC42.dll" when trying to start Arcade Classics Vol. 3 or any of its six games, restarting the computer will often cure this problem. If after rebooting you still see this message, copy the MFC42.dll from the Arcade Classics CD to the folder that you installed Arcade Classics Volume 3 (default installed path is "\Program Files\Midway\Arcade Classics Vol. 3\"). Known problems with video cards using a Voodoo Rush, Rendition V2200 or V1000 chipsets. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is a known problem when playing 720º and Paperboy with video cards equiped with either the Voodoo Rush, Rendition V2200, or Rendition V1000 chipsets. (Either of these games may display a black screen, or in some cases may crash you out to the Window's desktop, causing the system to become unstable and requiring the user to restart their system.) Some video cards that we know of that have either Voodoo Rush or Rendition V2200/V1000 chipsets are: Hercules Stingray and Intense 3D Voodoo with the Voodoo Rush chipset, Hercules Thriller with the Rendition V2200 chipset, 3D Blaster and Intense 3D with the Rendition V1000 chipset. Turning off the hardware accelerator for the system will usually allow the game to play without error, though this will change your view from fullscreen to a window. To turn off hardware acceleration right click on the Desktop, click on Properties, then Settings, Advanced Properties. In this window you'll find the Performance slider; simply move it from Full to None. Joystick Removal (No control of player in 720º and Marble Madness) ------------------------------------------------- If you've previously played one of the Arcade Classics 3 games with a joystick and later remove it from your system, be sure to go to the Options window of that game and choose "no controller selected". [Note: The game remembers its setup from when it was last played. It may have problems if its hardware configuration is changed without the changes being updated in the Options window.] Flashing graphics at the top of the Vindicator's game screen ------------------------------------------------------------ Ocassionally Vindicators will show a bit of graphical distortion at the top edge of the screen above the game window when playing saved-games that have "Allow 320x240 mode" disabled. This can be corrected by exiting the game with [ESC] and clicking the 'Play' button from the Vindicator's game menu. Window 95 (version C) and 320x240 mode -------------------------------------- If you're running Win95 version C, playing Gauntlet, Marble Madness, RoadBlasters and Vidicators in 320x240 mode may cause the game menus for these games to appear distorted. This can be fixed by disabling Quick Launch. [To do this right-click on the Taskbar; under the Toolbars drop-down menu uncheck Quick Launch.]
